Hello all. Just wondering what commercially available stones you'd recommend to put a nice sharp edge on a Model 14. Also looking for suggestions on how to re-sharpen the top swedge or clip of the knife. Randall "says" its sharpened, but on my knife it's more of just a very thin line with no real edge. I'd like to get this with a true cutting edge on it like it's supposed to be without scuffing up the blade too much. Should I send the knife in to RMK to get it done or is there a stone system I can get to do it just as well myself? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hello all. Just wondering what commercially available stones you'd recommend ...

DMT. Link here .

DMT's "fine" (red) is best for most typical uses. Get a combination "coarse" (blue) and "fine" for greater utility. See in particular DMT's "DuoSharp" model bench hones, and "DiaSharp" pocket hones.

What? A hundred bucks is too much to pay for a 'sharpening stone'? Hummm..... How much did we pay for our Randall....?

If just 'real sharp' isn't good enough, finish up with either DMT's "extra-fine" (green) or a hard Arkansas stone (black or translucent white). Actually, use both: DMT "extra-fine" followed by the hard Arkansas. But this is overkill (IMO) for a big knife like the M14.
