I have been sharpening knives for years and have been requested to sharpen hairdressing shears. Whay is the best resource for building understanding and technique?

Can you post a picture? When I sharpen my pruning shears and house scissors I have found it easier to take them apart and sharpen similar to a knife. You need to make sure you keep the same angle, it's going to be a lot more obtuse than you think.

Hairdressing shears... expensive if excellent quality. Most likely a convex edge, probably mirror polished with very tight fit. Not really obtuse, scissors will cut you just like a zero grind convex knife.

Pictures, price of shears and your sharpening equipment will be needed for a better answer.

Some scissors are tough to sharpen due to the small surface area of the sharpenable surface, such as some of those made by Singer. I had a swell time sharpening my mother's sewing scissors. Eventually got great results, but it took a steady hand and lots of patience. Would love to see a picture of the hairdresssing shears.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you all bent very busy. I don't have any atm to show, but I did get in touch with a guy in MA who does hand sharpening and he showed me a few things about doing them.
