Sharpening. Im messing up my tip...

Looks like you lifting your hand up toward the end of each pull across the surface? That and you might be running the tip off the edge of the sharpening surface? Stop with the tip still on the surface of the sharpener.

Try pulling the knife's tip across the stone instead of pushing it. The secret is maintaining the same angle all the way down the blade. If you can maintain the angle consistently it really doesn't matter if you push the blade or pull it. I have never been a fan of stones with perforated surfaces.

Thanks guys, I have always sharpened single strokes, and pulled from edge to spine. Its always worked for me until I got my 1st PM2. I guess blade geometry and my habits just didnt mesh too well when using the thin DMT diafold stones, so I started paying attention to how I dragged the tip across the stone. Then I bought a couple of DMT bench stones, fine and extra fine, then finished off with my EEF diafold. And I changed up from the single stroke per side and went to the burr method. The results were more than I bargained for! Not only did the tip clean up, I was literally able to whittle hair, which Ive never been able to do before. But that only lasted for a minutes, until I cut some 6-Pack rings and a few Amazon boxes. Still shaves arm hair though. :-)
