Guys im having a bit of a problem, I have a cold steel spartan. *yes I know, its big bulky and unnecesarry* but its awesome. but, im having a real problem sharpening it, what do you guys suggest?

Without more information, I would try the simple marker test to see where you're taking metal off of the edge. Mark the blade edge with a black marker and use whatever medium you're using to sharpen your knives with. If you're taking it off on the very edge of the blade, make sure you're keeping consistent angles. Other then that...

What problems are you having particularly?

Agree...Not sure what your problem is without some detail.

If you are unsure of the "marker test", watch this short video. It explains what it is:

This will assure that your honing efforts (regardless of that methods you are using) are reaching the edge.

Not honing to the edge is probably the most common mistake for novice sharpeners (and some experienced guys).

my problem is the shape of the blade on the spartan, its kind of like a khukri with a large round end near the tip so its very hard to sharpen on a stone.

a blade like that is a little tricky being a recurve with a large belly. i can tell you how to sharpen it but typing out how would take me too long. if you email me your phone number i'll give you a call and help you out. rje196021@gmail.com
