Does anyone know of a jig that can be used with my Kalamazoo 1x42 to maintain a consistent and adjustable angle on both sides of a knife? It also needs to handle thick blades. I am thinking about modifying a Lansky clamp but a) I don't know if I have the skills and b) I don't think it is tough enough to be a long term solution. I bought the knife clamp from Tormek but it is too thick for use on a straight surface. Oddly, it was just made to use on the round Tormek sharpener . Any thoughts or pictures of your own devices would be greatly appreciated.

Not worth the trouble. Just keep your eye on the spine-to-belt distance, and you won't have any issues keeping things nice and even. Definitely practice on some junker knives first, just to make sure you have the feel down (especially with your off hand) but it's not nearly as tough as it seems from reading it. I was worried about that, and thinking of a jig as well before I tried it out.
