sharpening Kershaw/ZT scallops?

Hi, I was wondering if the scalloped serrations on the Kershaw/ZT knives can be easily resharpened on a Sharpmaker. That is, will the corners of the rods fit well enough in-between the scallops to fully sharpen them?

Also, what are your experiences with this style of serrations? I like plain edges and Spyderedge serrations, but feel the scallops also look good, and less likely to snag on some items than some serration patterns.

Thanx for any info you can give! :)

I've never sharpened scalloped serrations like those, but they're pretty much the only serrations I actually like to use. They actually cut pretty much every material I've tried with them, unlike most other serrations (like the three-point style used by a lot of companies) which tend to tear and shred more than they cut in my experience, especially when cutting fabric, rope, cardboard, foodstuffs, etc. I like Kershaw's best, but Kabar's are really good, too.

Anyway, I'd take a plain edge over a serrated edge, but imho the scalloped serrations are the best out there.

I've used my sharpmaker to sharpen scallop-style serrations without any difficulty. You just have to do it correctly and not rush.

I used my Sharpmaker on my ZT0650 with no problems. Like K&G said, just take your time and you should be just fine.:)
