Hello i wanted to post a question. I've noticed the last few knives I've bought (modern and traditional) has a slight re curve, probably due to the initial sharpening on the belt. I've been having a hard time getting in that area with my bench stones. What is the best way to sharpen that area? Use a stone like a sharpmaker rod or equivalent or completely re profile and remove the slight re curve? Thanks for your input!

Use the corner of the stone. Sharpmaker stone is the same concept.

Whether to reprofile or not is up to you. You can do it a little at a time... just sharpen the rest of the blade a little more each time until it eventually evens out.

You can use your benchstone for the recurve area... what I suggest is rounding one edge of the long side of the stone (preferably with a diamond stone) to get rid of the sharp edge. Then just slightly lower the handle when you approach the recurve area, and you'll be able to sharpen it. When I do recurves, I also work in both directions (into and out of the recurve... keeps everything even. My .02! :)
