What is a good hand operated sharpening stone jig for putting a razor sharp blade on knives? I have been told that the Lansky sharpening stone jig is good, but I just want to make sure if there are any other good cheap sharpening stone jig sets anyone knows about and/ or can give me there opinion on the Lansky sharpening stones. Thanks.

I am a big fan of Razor Edge Systems clamp on guides. Two sizes, a large and small. By placing the clamp in/out on the blade, you can regulate the sharpening angle very well. I like them because they DO work on ALL stones...even diamond. I can use whatever stone I want, whatever angle I want. The part of the guide that makes contact with the stone will abrade, obviously, but even on diamond it isn't really an issue, as your pressure should be on the edge, not the back of the guide. You might look into them....I love em. Did I say that already? The guided systems work well, too, from what I read, but they are pricey, and you're limited on stone selection. That is changing, tho, as they are making replacement stones for those systems out of all types of abrasive....diamond...sapphire...etc.

Never used the Lansky system, but it is a tried and true system. Maybe not as precise as WE or what have you....but it works.
