can you sharpen the La Griffe with the Spyderco Sharpmaker? Anybody tried it?

Lifter,

The sharpmaker is definately the thing to sharpen the Le Griffe. I use a black felt pen to color the sharpened edge in so that I can find the right angle. Do several strokes on the primary bevel to develop a burr. I simply hold the blade almost flat on the opposite stone and stroke it lightly a few times to remove the burr. This might take a couple of cycles but, it will work .

Godd luck. Let us know how it works out.

Derek has it right. Another way to go is a fine DMT rod. I usually start with this and then go to the 203.

If you are brave, you can change the angle of the edge quickly with a Dremel and a hard stone. I did this to mine. I changed the angle to where the La Griffe matched the 203's angle exactly. Then you don't have any guestimation on how to hold it.
