Sharpening marks?

Mods, my apologies if this is the wrong forum.
Can anyone tell me how these marks on the blade edge got made? I assume from the initial sharpening? The seem to be fairly uniform in distance apart so Im just curious as to how the sharpening process would make these?

Interesting. I've never seen a factory edge so blurry. You should return it to Benchmade and exchange it for a sharp one.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help making a joke. If you can get a picture that focuses on the edge, rather than the background, you'll probably get some answers. :thumbsup:
 
Thats the best I could get with my phone and I have now sharpened the blade so they are no longer visible at all.
 
Factory edges are done on a belt sander. That's the reason for the lines.
