I have a CRKT Marzitelli Prowler I got at a Great deal months ago.

However....when trying to raise an edge with the Sharpmaker, well, it just doesn;t seem to be doing it. Anyone else have this experience? I've marked the blade, & the 30 degree SEEMS to be cutting metal - but it's just not coming around.

(I know I know...CRKT........but it was a great price -despite the problem now- & I primarily bought it as a beater for work.)

Thanks

Mark the edge again. Hone a little and look at where the ink was removed using a magnifying glass. It is very likely that you just aren't honing all the way up to the apex of the edge (you have more work to do). If you are in a hurry you could switch to the "40 degree" slots in your Sharpmaker and see if you start getting results sooner.

PS. Do most of your work with light pressure strokes along the edges of the dark-colored medium ceramic rods. Do this until the edge is basically sharp. Then switch to the flats of the dark rods for about 10 strokes per side (alternating left/right sides). It is optional to use the white rods. They are very slow and the finish that you get with the dark rods works very well. Whatever you do don't try and sharpen using the white rods, they are just a finishing step.

Def check the sharpie out again as Jeff said , I did the same thing you did when I got my Prowler, gotta work a good while to get the bevels in line with the sharpmaker, it's worth it, those prowlers make great work edc's IMHO. Steve
