Sharpening Merlin (hawkbill blade)

I own a Merlin, the second knife made by Spyderco that has a hawkbill blade. The very tip of my knife is dull, where it got sharpened incorrectly on a grind wheel (not by me). Plus the tip of the knife is not there, the tip is slightly rounded. Is there any way to at least get the tip of the knife sharpened, and possibly get a tip put back on the knife? When it was sharpened on the power grinder not enough was taken off the tip so the knife "bulged" out near the tip, leaving an unequal curve of the blade. Thanks.

You can always send it back to Spyderco and get it resharpen. I'd phone them up first and ask them about it first.

I agree with Calyth, send it back to Spyderco. Oh, and don't have any more knives sharpened by your friend with the grinding wheel.

Tell your friend:
Put the knife down and step away from the grinder.
I don't trust others to sharpen blades anymore, even though my sharpening skills don't fair any better.

That guy wasn't a friend. He worked at a knife store and all the knives of mine and my fathers he sharpened up fine, above razor edge. Even my merlin that had a slight bulge near the tip was razor sharp, but when I tried to sharpen it myself it is impossible to sharpen the tip. I can sharpen knives queit well on a porcelain or natural stone, but the last 1/4 inch of the tip won't sharpen. I looked at Spyderco's website, but couldn't find anything about sending it back.
