Hello All!
New here and first post. Now I finally decided to get serious about sharpening . I will be sharpening knifes (kitchen+hunting) chisels and plane blades, and anything else.

Now i was reading and bought from a few sources as things changed in midstream. So now I have to decide wether I should return anything and get something else as well as progressions.

Granite slabs as flat surface

I was not sure about grinding wheel guide bit it would be nice for chisels and such.

I still have an opportunity to return/exchange some things. I have mixed bag so far and have needs for all sorts of sharpening and to lap soles of wood planes and tools.

Thanks in advance for and all feedback. I was thinking I need some lower stone maybe #400 stone (chessin or chosera) maybe and a 3000.

You bought a good general purpose sharpening-set. Hard sharpening stones are great for wood-working tools, easier to stay true.

What materials are those lapping grits?

Instead of the double side 300&300 grit diamond plate, I would rather have:
a. DMT 8X + 8F or
b. Atoma 140 and buy a DMT 8C

Get a decent 1x30 belt-grinder and a handful of Blaze belts (40-120 grit). Belt is more fun & effective than a grinding wheel - although it costs more.

The lapping grit is silicon carbide. Will have to look at the sanders The grinder was going to be for plane blades and chisels.
That was something I was not sure if it was worth or not. I did reading on tool sharpening more so then knife sharpening. I must have 15 knives that could use a good edge.
