so i love the knife, and i have been using the spyderco sharpmaker 204 to sharpen it and using the 30 deg slots. this produces a GREAT edge, but i was wondering what will and rob recommend in terms of sharpening angle or which stone to use. any suggestions?

thanks

...I use basically the same set up. I usually just use the "white sticks" on the sharpmaker. Sometimes I will just strop the blade on a leather razor strop, loaded with green buffing compound. Remember, TALONITE usually doesn't need alot of material removed to bring back a sharp edge, so go easy. Have fun!

thanks for the lightning response will!! yeah, other than using the brown sticks to put a proper point on the blade, i have been havng fantastic results from a few swipes on the white ones every few days. actually seems to be getting sharper each time lol

I recently saw a beautiful Talonite Carnivour which had been used for months without a sharpening. At an event where someone was demonstrating some of his techniques, he took this rather dull blade (demonstrated by slicing paper), steeled it (smooth steel) and stropped it (leather without compount). It took a great edge and was shaving again.

I promtply came home and ordered a Talonite EDC for myself :)
