Hello everyone, this is my first post. I just bought a new BM710HSSR, my first quality knife. I I do not have much experience in sharpening and could use some advice. I am looking for a fairly simple sharpener to use that will put a very nice edge on my knife. If you have any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Thanks everyone

Welcome to the Forums, TJK!

You made a great choice with the 710 in M2 steel.

For sharpening, I would highly recommend the Spyderco 204 Sharpmaker. It can be had for $50 or under and will sharpen virtually anything in your household that needs sharpening. It's also easy to use.

Good luck with your 710 and your sharpening endeavors. :)

I'll second the recomendation for the Sharpmaker. Works great on the 710 recurve blade. Of course, my 710 has the 154cm blade; I've heard that the M2 steel is a little more difficult to sharpen. In any case, the Sharpmaker is an exellent product.

Welcome. That's a mighty fine knife you've got. The best, as far as I'm concerned.

I second the vote for the Sharpmaker. If your 710 came with an edge that's neither 30 nor 40 degrees (the two settings on the Sharpmaker), you'll need to reprofile first.
