Sharpening my new Heavy Heart

It's been about 2 weeks since I picked up my HH and noticed it's not quite as sharp as some of my custom large knives.

Typically I just use my Spyderco Sharpmaker @ the 20 Degree to sharpen my folders and some of my other large blades. Will this work ok on my HH or do you recommend other methods?

I'm looking at making or picking up a nice leather strop to play with on some of my daily folders and if I can get good w/those then I'll attempt my larger blades.

Thanks for the input.

I'll post up some pictures as soon as I get my new sheath made... should be finished any day now.

Thanks.

You might want to consider getting one of the Busse Air Bleeder strops, I believe the Company Store has some in stock

:D:D

I guess I was wrong about the Company Store having them in stock, however, you may want to email Skunk and see if he has any on order or plans to get anymore

After using the crap out of my HH, I'm having the best success with a Norton Water stone (2000) and a touch up with steel rod if needed and then the Air Bleeder Strop. Good Luck!

DMT Continuous Medium (red label) Diamond hone followed by an Arkansas Translucent Hone will make your Heavy Heart cut like the Dickens. Arkansas Translucents are expensive, but so was your Heavy Heart. The best DMT stones (in my opinion) are those with the pure nickel bed, not the ones with a plastic bed. Get big hones (8 to 12 inches long) because you have a big knife. My two sense. Best regards, Alex.
