sharpening my recon scout

For sharpening my CS recon scout I use a spyderco sharpmaker.
However I can't get it sharp from about two inches towards the point.
Is it advisable to use a different angle near the point ?
Any suggestions ?

vanman--welcome to Bladeforums. Take a look at the sharpening FAQ by Joe Talmadge-- great info. One thing he suggests is using a black marker to mark up the edge of your knife so you can see where the sharpmaker rods (or whatever other hone you are using) actually hit the blade. If you are not taking the marker off the very edge, then you are not actually sharpening the edge. Also, be sure to check out the part about raising a burr, or wire edge, on both sides of the blade.
