Sharpening new Manix 2?

I just ordered my first Spyderco, a Manix 2. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival and have a some questions about sharpening. I have lots of knives and use a WorkSharp sharpener (Ken Onion) to sharpen all my blades, but I am wondering if this is the correct process for the Spyderco? It says that the blade has a flat grind, which is different (I think) then the convex grind that the belt sharpener produces. I think I can grind the blade to a convex edge with the WorkSharp, but would I want to? I have always assumed that the best edge was convex so I am kind of curious why the Spyderco's have a flat grind.

If keeping a flat grind is best, then that is what I will do. I do have a Lansky sharpening system too, would that work well for a flat grind? Or should I just get a tri-stone? Other?

Thanks!

By "flat grind" spyderco means the whole blade, not just the edge. Your knife is a flat grind with a V edge, if you want to put a convex edge on it that'll be fine, it'll only change the apex, not the whole blade grind. That's really up to you if you want to, it won't be a problem and if that's what the rest of your knives are and that's what you know how to do then go for it. Again your only changing the edge, not the whole blade grind, and you could go back to a V edge down the road of you switch sharpening methods or just decide you want to.
