Have just got my first Spyderco, a UKPK. Best EDC knife I have had. So far it has only had light use so is still very sharp. I anticipate some heavy use over the next couple of months. What is the best way to resharpen this knife (S30V blade). Should I purchase Spyderco's sharpmaker?

I can't say enough good things about the Sharpmaker. It is the one device that I have finally successfully learned to put a razor sharp edge on my knives. It is a great investment!!

Second vote for the sharpmaker. I've used it on my CPM-S30V native and gotten it to a edge that can only be described as ludicrous sharp.

Sharpmaker is a great tool. I use it for a year. I never was able to sharpen anything before I got it. Now my knives are shaving sharp. It nice to get ultra-fine rods, but you do not have to, or you can get them later.
Just watch very carefully DVD. Use light and slow strokes and knives will be very sharp.
By the way if you like UKPK, than you have to get CALY3. It is amazing knife.

I live in the UK which has really repressive knife laws. I could never safely EDC it as it has a locking mechanism. That's why I bought a UKPK.
