Didn't see any sharpening forums so I'm posting here. When sharpening a 3.5 in. blade am I better off with one long stroke or multiple shorter strokes. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Dave

This is the sharpening subforum

There is also a search function that can help too.

I prefer to do full long strokes but it varies knife to knife and person to person. Various people do it differently. I like to keep my scratch pattern nice. If the blades too long, you don't have much choice.

If your trying to take off material fast it helps to do multiple up and down strokes. But also this can have issues where you focus too much in one spot or apply too much pressure in one spot causing a recurve.

Edited for more..

That... is a pretty damn good summary.
