This morning I sharpened a multitool's blade with my set of 3 Arkansas stones, it's almost as sharp an edge as I can get with my Sharpmaker, but it's lacking a bit in the middle of the blade. I think that this is because the benchstone is slightly concave due to wear. I need to grind it down to being flat again.
I've read a lot about "acquiring muscle memory" for sharpening on a benchstone. So I'd like to ask all the benchstone people out there, is this muscle memory for a specific angle only, or is it more of a general ability to hold a constant angle?
