Sharpening Out Large Nick on F1

I've recently acquired a Fallkniven F1 on trade from a BF member, knowing the blade had a decent-sized nick near the tip. What is the best method to get out the nick on a convex edge? Is it too deep? This will be a user, but I'd like to get out the nick if possible.

You can also do it with just coarse sandpaper/mousepad or hard backing. It may take a bit longer, but it will come out.

Two suggestions:

1. Post this here (Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment) and you will get more results.

2. contemplate the possibilities of this happening again. Obviously, you can NOT remove a nick from a blade, the reality is you remove the BLADE from the NICK. If you are using the knife (hard), perhaps living with a "repaired" nick is an attractive idea? If you "repair" the nick it takes less time, removes a lot less edge, and will leave behind a smoother depression that acts a bit like a serration. If you are doing work that results in frequent nicks, I recommend "repair" over "removal". Your knives may last longer too.

If you decide to repair it or remove it, the process is the same (it just takes more time and material removal to remove it completely). For a convex edge I would use a mouse pad and progress through your sanding media as you would when sharpening. Obviously you will start with the coarsest stuff you use on your edges.
