I imagine like me, most of you find sharpening theraputic. Lets see some pics of your setup. It can be a belt sander, an angle controlled sharpening system, or just a good old fashioned sharpening stone. Traditional and moderns all welcome. Here's mine:

Stuck in a tiny apartment for a few more months as I wrap up my engineering degree. All my sharpening stuff fits in this little tub :( I've got a few Chosera stones, a washboard, a few different compounds, a leather strop, a veho and a loupe. Not near as much as I want, but still probably more than I'll ever need!

This tackle box, with some mods, works fine to hold most of my sharpening kit. The benchstones are stored on a shelf in a closet. Too big for the box.

Here's my usual, the workplace version. WB with 180, 320, 600, one drip of white compound, a small slug of grey, copy paper, eraser, Norton Econo stone with hacksaw blade for whipping up a slurry if needed. Mineral oil off camera. The whole set-up survives very easily in my workbench environment, and ready to go at a moments notice.

My home set-up is very similar but the eraser is pink and the stone is a Norton Crystalon. I have a shelf full of stones, this is the kit that's been getting the call up for over a year now.

My 220, 440, 1000, 4000, and 8000 with various naguras.

Don't mind the knives, collection has grew since this picture and added additional 8000 grit (keep at work).

That's a tough one to answer, like asking which child do you love more!. I don't normally use the Kit alone. most of the time it's paired up with the Snow white. First the SW followed by the
Kit.
If your looking for a new fine stone , check out the Takashima Awasedo at JKI

I just got one last month, and so far have only used it on my Mukimono. lots of mud, only needs an occasional light splash of water. And gives an insane edge.

I sharpen knives, shears, and razors all day in my shop and these are my favorite weapons from my arsenal to tackle most jobs!001.jpg

Knife was ground thin enough to set the bevel right of a x coarse stone, this is at coarse..Already very sharp.

This is at fine, not much to see

this is at x-fine..It can shave curlys as fine as you want and tree top hair.

What do you do to sharpen shears? I've been trying to figure those out.

My homemade sharpening stone support is adjustable using the turnbuckles. The blade is held perpendicularly to the ground. After sharpening on one side, you rotate the rig 180 degrees to sharpen the other side. Right now, one side is set to 15 degrees off vertical, the other to 20 degrees. A digital clinometer can be used to insure a 0.1 degree accuracy.
Dropping successively finer stones on the rig lets you control edge fineness.View attachment 414473

I love feathering paper haha.

This is what I do after I sharpen. One snag and back to the stones.
