I want to practice sharpening, but I need cheap knives to do so on. ($20 for a Gerber LST that wont hold too fine of an edge is not my cup of tea)
So far, I thought of the Opinels and Frosts and Dexter Russel/Old Hickory kitchen knives

anything too thin, and it may be too easy to get sharp. Try putting a shaving edge on a throwing knife. Great way to waste time :(

Practise on your mates, neighbours, relatives or workmates knives - they are the cheapest knives to practice on. ;)

Everyone in you neighborhood has kitchen knives that are really dull.
Can't mess them up cause they wouldn't even know.
But when you get em sharp you gotta warn them....

Go around "flea" markets etc and buy up old knives cheap and practice on those - you never know you might find a bargain.
