Is there a specific way to sharpen a Busse blade, if so what should I take into account, thanks for any help.... I am by no means a sharpening wiz...so keep that in mind..:D

Please be as detailed as possible when answering this question because I too have the same question. I am concerned because of my lack of ability in knife sharpening. Thanks

Me too, Is using the sharpmaker practical for the larger blades or is there a better technique. C'mon hogs tell us the secrets. :)

Well that lets me out - I don't own a cat.
Kinda figured maybe a hog's toungue would work better - I don't own one of those either. :D

Uhm, that doesnt work very well, now I have one very upset shop cat and my hand looks like it got caught in the garbage disposal. :o

that was eight pounds of teeth and claws, I'm tellin ya!

you have to sharpen busse's? hmmm.....whoda thunk it....
the real question is how do you dull them!

I used an EdgeProApex on my SHBA, and it sharpened up quickly. Much more quickly than the SAR rat I sharpened before it. I'd recommend adding a half centimeter to the degree wand though, as 24 degrees is about as thin as you want to get on a Busse. 28-32 degrees will give a much sturdier edge. My plan was to use the BA in the woods, as a camping chore knife, so that's why I went so thin.
Now that I'm up to a hair popping edge I expect to maintain it on a ceramic rod, and use used 400grit sandpaperon a soft surface (mousepad, lifting belt, folded t-shirt...) when it starts dulling.
