I recently picked up a team Gemini and the edge on this thing while sharp is super wide. It would take me days to knock the shoulders down on my sharpmaker. I was wondering if I send it in to busse would they make the grind a lot thinner for me? I prefer a thinner edge and infi can definitely take one and be fine. Also what's generally the turn around on this?

Why not just use a file and reprofile the angle to your liking? It's not difficult -- I've done that on many of my blades. The sharpening process will remove the file marks.

I use the Sharpmaker diamond rods and find them an indispensable element of the Sharpmaker system, but I try to remove as much material as possible with a file first, but you have to be careful not to remove too much or mar the finish.

Busse will be happy to thin down the profile for you. Garth trimmed down my fat-edged TTKZ. Give them a call, or email.

I have the diamond rods for the sharpmaker but it would still take a ridiculously long time to bring the shoulders down and I don't really trust myself with a file. I'll call busse up on Monday!

Mine has a thick grind also. Really made me appreciate the remarkable grind on the NMSFNO. I decided to keep it the way it was though. It still cuts paper and it's probably better suited for heavy wood work or general deconstruction. The LightBrigade TG should be a bit more of a slicer.

It did take me quite a while to get mine to where I was happy with it.

I really like my Sharpmaker, but my Wicked Edge is SO much better for reprofiling. I took my ASH (.22) down to 40 degrees inclusive, which is still relatively obtuse, but is quite a bit steeper than what was on it. Slices much better and also chops much better, with absolutely zero edge durability issues thus far.
