Sharpening questions

Ya'll,

I have been a flurry of activity this weekend; I decided to strip one of my BK2s, after reading a lot of threads on here mentioning pros and cons. I got the stripping done, did some sanding to get rid of some of some of the edge on grind marks and it is looking great(er). Now I need to sharpen the bear.

I have the paper wheel carbide/rouge wheels...and went after a chinese crap fixed knife I received free with a cheaper than dirt order, in order to practice before the BK2. Wow, the edge is wavy as crap, and I was trying hard to keep the angle even...so now my questions.

What is the angle of the grind from the factory on the knives? Should I be trying to maintain that edge while getting rid of the should (convexing)? Does anyone have a suggestion for a jig on a grinder that might work to help maintain a 20-25 degree angle (assuming this is what I should be shooting for)?

Thanks for the help.

Bruce

Uh, ok?

Is that all I can get from 47 views? Someone has to at least know what the original bevel angle is, and I know several folks use these paper wheels - can I please get some feedback? Pleeeese?

Edit - Thanks for the single reply EdcTac, not discounting what you said but I am trying to use what I have here - not build a better Lansky, which I would if I had the room and the tools and the supplies capable of doing it - heck I would l love to build me a boat or better, a house, but it aint going to happen with what I have to work with...

25 degrees. 50 inclusive. Dunno about a guide since i do it freehand and have always. I take the shoulder off on a belt sander then put on my own microbevel with a 250/1000 grit stone. Its a technique i learned from watching Mr. Jerry Fisk sharpen. gets scary sharp. hope that helps

If you want some solid advice on paper wheels, hit up richard j here on the forums. he is the paper wheels master, as far as factory bevel I have no clue.
