Who would you recommend in LA for these sort of things that won't break the bank? I've got a few I need re-profiled: Air Ranger, CS Bowie Machete, Ka-Bar Marine etc... Thanks!

Advanced Cutlery is Santa Anita does a good job with re-pros and sharpening, prices are high for knives though, great customer service.

Or you could just buy a coarse grit 8x2" diamond benchstone and do it yourself...
(practice on cheap knives first)

+1 for a diamond stone and a DIY. Like Josh said, "practice on a cheapie first."

He could skip to an EP or WE maybe paper wheels or a belt grinder as well.

Sandpaper, natural stones, synthetic stones, diamond stones, cement blocks, cardboard.

That's if you want to sharpen, other than that use a search engine or ask around at gun/knife stores.

if you have a friend that's a cook check with him since knife sharpeners rotate by the food service places ever so often. a cook friend could take you rs in on that day & you probably wo'nt have to pay . however buying a 10 or 11 in. diamond hone & asking forurm how to use is the best option.
