So ive noticed with extreme recurve blades you cannot sharpen the inwards curve on a bench stone... i have 2 questions.. first of all, is there any way to rememdy this? secondly, does anyone have this problem with the benchmade skirmish? i love the knife but, i wont be getting it if i cant sharpen it.

Well, you could regrind it into a straight edge ;) :D

My few recurves get sharpened on an old ceramic sharpener with round sides which I have had for over twenty years. I have also used a DMT serration sharpener to remove nicks first.

Mostly, it isn't a problem, as I carry and use them so often that it takes years for one to get dull (I really don't like recurves at all)

Use something round. Ceramic or diamond rods as well as the triangle dog bone types will all work. I use a wooden dowl and sand paper chucked into the file holder of the bladesharpener. Its cheap and you can get any finish you want. You can build a cheap v type with a drill a block of wood and some dowls, just drill the holes into the block at whatever angle you want wrap some sand paper around the dowls stick them in the holes and sharpen away.

Yea,for me a diamond steel and ceramic rod works fine.

Sputnic, good idea on the dowl and sand paper.

I recently sharpened my Emerson Commander with my Edgepro. Worst case scenario I can picture is that you may round the edges of your stones. One that to me doesnt seem too catastrophic.

The dowel is a good idea though, would be ideal for a kerambit/deep recurve
