Is this possible? Just got. Manix 2 in this steel. I have the diamond rods and the ultrafines too. How would you go about this use the 40 degree with the diamonds first? Which stones to stop at just diamond and the course or use all 4 grits? Is this harder then s30v zdp189 and cm154?

yes its going to take some time but its possible. start on the diamonds, and I would say finish on the brown stones.... but that's just me. A coarse edge with that steel would cut forever. YMMV.... you can stop at medium, fine, or UF

Sharpening (just touching up the microbevel) s110v is quick and easy with the 40deg diamond stone. If it's just a touch up = use the fine stones, if it's a little duller = start with the coarse. The trick is to never let it get dull. Just give it a few quick swipes every now an then to maintain the edge.

Reprofiling, on the otherhand.... good luck. You'll need a guided shapening system to get accurate flat angles.

It'll work, but after using the DMT for a month, I'll second the diamond recommendation. It's like cheating.

You will be surprised what you can get done with the grey stones straight. The Manix is from the factory at about 15-17* per side (mine was). So, by using the grey stones right away, you will put a little mice bevel on that baby, and it will cut very, very well at about 400-600 grit.
