sharpening s110v

I'm slowly becoming more confident with my edge pro and would like to put a better edge on my Strider Sng with s110v. To date, I've only sharpened 154cm, aus-8 and s30v. I'm not quite sure of the exact hardness of the blade but I suspect it's much harder than what I'm used to. Probably somewhere in the mid 60's. Has anyone had experience with s110v? Is it a real pain in the ass? Should I go for something toothy or should I go with a razor polish? What I've read has been a bit mixed and I just want a few fresh opinions. Thanks!

I also have a Strider SnG in S110V that I rebeveled and sharpened on my Edge Pro a while back. It takes a bit longer than the other steels you mentioned, but it's nothing that'll give the Edge Pro any problems in my experience.

As for the edge, I put a mirror polished edge on mine (wanted to see how fine of an edge it took given the high carbide volume and was impressed by the results), but I know Ankerson and some others advocate going with a toothier working edge for high-vanadium steels such as S110V, 10V, etc.

Thanks for the info. I'm not trying to send the blade off to the Strider spa quite yet so I think that you've given me the confidence to go ahead and give it a shot. I'll finish the blade with the 600 grit stone and see what I think.

I sharpened my Sng in S110V as well with the EP. Came out pretty nice after the 600grit stone but I went up to the 1k stone because I wanted to :D

Yep I do. :D

I use S110V at 65 HRC in the kitchen everyday (Fixed Blade). :)

I like the S110V on my Kershaw Shallot a lot. It is a wicked slicer, but not a really hard work knife to beat the snot out of doing "beater" knife duty on a job site.

But used as a slicer/cutter, my best, most useful and longest lasting edge was put on with a 600 grit stone. A little bit toothy, and a whole lot of cutter.
