Sharpening Salon Shears By Hand?

Does anybody have any idea how to properly sharpen salon shears by hand? I can get them sharp, but the dang things keep pushing hair. It could be the shears, though. Anybody expeienced in this?
By the way, tthey're completely different from sharpening knives or scissors. I can filet hairs and glide scissors through paper with my edges, but I can't make salon shears work.

Sharpen as chisel grind V or convex up after 1k I jump to 306uf. Close shear to deburr.
focus on 1/4 inch tip, keep working on it until it cleanly cut wet tp or neck strip paper.

Does it push hair out of the shear when cutting? That's what I'm trying to remedy.

Oh, okay. I'll try that, then. I was convinced it was an issue with the radiused edge.

Are they convex shears? If so it will be a lot harder to hand sharpen than shears with a straight bevel.

They are convex, yes. Salon shears usually are, so they suck to sharpen.

Interesting. I can't help, I only asked cause I'm very interested in this thread and I wanted to be clear.

Good luck.

I use a Scimech machine that is made for sharpening shears.
Convexing pads and the whole works. Shapton stones for finishing the ride line.

Salon shears arent something you just pick up and sharpen, as most are priced at $300-1000 a pair.

Good money... just better know what you are doing.

I've been working on it a lot. I've bought a pair to practice on, and a hairdresser helped me out by testing them. I'm curious, would it be possible just to sharpen the convex side on a compounded belt, and the flats on some Welsh razor hones?

Good luck.

It's a strange subject, not many can do it. It is interesting though, and a good skill to have!
