I thought it would be useful and informational for Scott to show his way of sharpening here in his forum. He had a few demonstration pictures in the Wilderness Survival forum, but I am sure there are some that missed it and I know I would like to ask him a few questions about his way of sharpening. I have been playing with the way he demonstrated and have had some good results. I hope that others will be interested and ask Scott questions. It is great to have a maker like Scott so willing to help his customers.

I really wish I could have been able to get that video done at the campout. If I can find someone to do it I will try and get one made. In the meantime, I will do my best to answer any questions.

When using the EZE lap diamond rod and the DMT folding stones do you sharpen into or away from the edge? Are you actually putting a micro bevel on the convex grind, or is the edge itself convex? A video would be great to see if you can find someone to do it for you.

I sharpen away from the edge. I put a convex micro bevel on my knives but you can sharpen zero edges this way also. It's all the the angle degree you hold the sharpener at. All you are hitting is the very edge using light pressure.
BTW, I should be able to get a video made soon. I'm talking to a few people I know that can do it.

Scott what is the sharpener is it that I have seen you recomend and in some of your pics (seen it on some tusker sheathes) brass handle round.

cd, it is the EZE Lap Sportsmen model E sharpener.
One of my hunting buddies is going to video tomorrow during our midday break while muzzleloader hunting.

Was this from the campout thread? I'm very interested, I do not sharpen well.

The video is done. Now I just have to wait for him to get it on a disc and upload it on You Tube. He will send me a link which I will post.
