Sharpening Seminars?

Is anyone aware of any person or organization that teaches sharpening? I know there are places people can pay to learn pottery or painting but what about sharpening?

Lee Valley stores in Canada offer sharpening seminars. This seminar gives a basic introduction to sharpening knives and provides access to various types of sharpeners, from belt sanders to strops (of course, hoping you will find something to buy).

It has a lot of information and some great demonstrations on how to sharpen knives correctly. I have both of his videos (Introduction and Advanced).

I think after watching a few times you will be sharpening to a pretty good level and with practice you will get better because he points out what you need to watch for as you sharpen.

I'm attending one at Lee Valley in Toronto on March 19th -- "Kitchen Sharpening". They don't mention anything specifically about folders, tacticals, survival knives, etc. but I think the principles will translate. Tons of other sharpening seminars at LV.
