About the knife from my other post, see is this really a custom. That knife I got was in great shape physically but it looks like the previous owner dulled the blade to practice maybe? Does anyone know of a good resharpening service? Of would benchamde do it, I assume not.

Mike

I got my 42 resharpened at Chesapeake Knife and Tool for $3 (actually, it was free- the guy who did it for me knows me and was like "it's free of charge". he rules)

I don't know if Benchmade would sharpen it, since the one on auction looks like a Pacific Cutlery.

Benchmade won't warranty their knives.
If it is a Benchmade, ( will say Benchmade, not just pat#'s), then they should service it with their lifesharp warranty.

If this is wrong, please, someone, stop me befor I start spreading rumors all over the place!!!

Hi,

I used two different device to sharpen my knife/ves.

One is the Spyderco Ceramic Whet Stone (ultra fine), I use this stone to give the knife mirror polish edge, and of course will give the knife the sharpness I need.

The other one is Diamond Whet Stone (Coarse), this one produces micro serrated edge. This edge is very good for cutting.

Or you can just send me the knife, I'll sharpen it for free. :)

Good luck !!

Joe

I'm sure that BM will sharpen it for you. Bali-Songs are a special case there. But, as badly dulled as your knife is, it goes beyond sharpening. It needs to be reprofiled. I think you can expect to pay for that. While I'm sure that many folks can recommend fine sharpening services (I'll throw George And Son here in Portland onto the list), but you really ought to return that knife to BM for this work. They won't be the cheapest, but they know what that knife is supposed to look like and can do the best work for you.

I have no problem with paying for the service, However I thought BM would only work on current production.

Bali-Songs enjoy a special status at Benchmade. My guess is, and remember that I do not in any way speak for BM, but my guess is if you ask nicely, they'll fix it up for you for a moderate price.

That is understandable Mike:D

If you have any trouble finding a place in your area, and you are willing to trust a total stranger on the internet, I'd be happy to do it for you free of charge, you can even specify what type of edge you want (with the obvious exeption of full serrations) rough edge or smooth (I like a glass edge personally).

Chuck is on it :) ...send a note to Travis Noteboom (Travis@Benchmade.com)....he'll fix you up!
