Sharpening steels?

I'm almost certain that somebody here on this forum posted a pic a while back of a knife or a sharpening steel that had a diamond shaped piece of steel attached to the handle, as if to be used to hang the steel on a butcher block or something.

Going through the shop this weekend, I came across an old steel, 19" long, the hand guard is a flat, white metal, triangular shaped piece, the handle is black wood.

Ring a bell with anyone? Seen anything like this?

It was very dirty, slightly rusty, lots of built up grime and grease. I'm trying to clean it up right now. Any tips on how to restore it to using condition?

Use a rotary wire brush on an electric drill as though it was a grinding wheel. Brush in line with the length of the steel not across it. After that clean it with dish wash liquid and a green Scotchbrite type scourer. Dry thoroughly and apply little mineral oil.
