Sharpening SWEDGE on Spyderco Police?

Now that I know what a SWEDGE and a FALSE EDGE are, I can ask these questions properly.

1) Has anyone successfully sharpened the SWEDGE on a Spyderco Police model with a V-10 blade?
2) Is it an unreasonable chore to sharpen it by hand, with out power (belt sander, etc.)?
3) Is the new FALSE EDGE completely protected by the handle when closed?

TIA. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Spyderco makes the police so that the false edge is completely covered by the closed handle and they purposely give you the option to sharpen it yourself.

Cannot tell how long it would take you to do this unless you let us know what sharpening gear you plan on using to take off all of that metal.

Stones (the sharpening kind :D) and sweat. I have a grinder but fear I might over-heat the steel.

The swedge is already ground pretty thin on mine, and VG-10 isn't that hard to grind. I'd say an evening on a coarse benchstone should be able to get it sharp. Be sure that it is legal to carry a double-edged knife there before you proceed.

I did it a few years ago, the sharpened edge is completely covered when closed. It didn't take very long, 45 mins IIRC

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …
