Hello guys!

I am in the US for holiday. I was really looking for a sharpener.

I had actually decided to get the Worksharp sharpener. I was 5 minutes away from ordering it, when i found out that it was 100 something volt. In Denmark er use 230v. Then i would need a converter(they often burn up).

Well i need something that
Is effective and really easy to use(i suck at stone freehanding)
Around 60-80 dollars
Something guided, fast and effective (paper slicing sharp)

I have a BK2 and a swedish axe.

Feel free to ask for questions.

Thanks
- Emil

Our 230 V runs on 60 Hz. Most equipment on 230V is expensive. So a bench grinder would probably be $200+. And prices will go up from there. If you have a bench grinder at home you can get some paper wheels for it. Otherwise, it is good to learn freehand sharpening.

i just received a spyderco sharpmaker from an online vendor and it was under $60. I am a novice at sharpening (and that is being generous). After reading the manual and watching the DVD, I have sharpened 4 or 5 knives with increasing success after each one. I recognize you were originally asking about a powered sharpener, but honestly, the sharpmaker sounds like what you need. It is simple, will sharpen pretty much anything and is inexpensive - and no concerns about proper voltage, etc.

You can sharpen chisels, shears, hatchets & axes, obviously knives and pretty much anything else with an edge. I highly recommend it.

I think i am going for the sharpmaker! Should i get any extra stones (like the ultrafine, leather...)

I am a outdoorsman, i want a egde that holds. I want a nice sharp egde, but i will not be sitting all day shaving my arm. (Eventhough its cool, how sharp knifes can get)

So will it make a durable sharp egde?
