I am planning to store my Leatherman Wave in the sheath for my Becker BK-7 knife, and also wanted to include some kind of compact sharpening tool / system.

Have others found something they recommend?

If you carry the BK-7 on your belt don’t bother to carry the Wave in the sheath. Just carry the Wave in it’s own sheath and put some essential ‘’survival’’ stuff in the BK-7 sheath. A two side sharpening stone cut in half while fit finely.

If you really want to carry the Wave like you where saying….go for the ‘’pocket sharpener’’ from Gerber.

I really like the ceramic tri-ceps sharpener from Gatco. Very inexpensive and a wonderful little tool. I keep one in the pouch of my RTAK sheath and one hanging from a little hook on the side of my computer monitor.

I think I paid around $7 for them at Brigade Quartermasters.

There's also a diamond version that's a little too aggressive at first, but once it's broken it it's a good little sharpener too.

I like the credit card size coarse DMT’s for field sharpening big knives, but since the Wave already has a diamond file which could be used to sharpen the BK7, I would be temped to go with a dog bone style sharpener to sharpen the Wave’s plain and serrated blades, but one of these would be a tight fit in the BK7 pouch next to a Wave. I think that I would go with one of the EZE-LAP diamond pens for the Wave and either use the Wave's diamond file for the BK7 or use one of the credit card size DMT's.

I carry a small diamond dmt stone along with a magnesium firestarter in my bk9 and bk7 sheaths and the bk10 has the fire starter and a small arkansas stone. It is really easy to obtain a razor edge with a 3" arkansas stone on any of these blades if you know how to sharpen a knife. dont use circular patterns with the blade on the stone. I sharpen about 3" of the blade at a time then move to the next 3" after getting to the point just flip the blade over and repeat. usually 10 to 15 strokes per 3" of blade will have it shaving sharp.
