Hello All,

Which would be better suited for general sharpening chores on a variety of steels: DMT's DuoSharp Coarse/Fine 8", or this trihone at knifeart.com : http://www.knifeart.com/ulsurtris.html ?

Also, does anyone have any information on the bladeart system such as width and thickness of the stones?

Thanks,

CM1911, the DMT stones use diamond and cut a lot faster than the Arkansas stones. Arkansas stones can leave a pretty nice polished edge, but they don't remove material anywhere near as fast as the diamonds. I'd get the diamonds for general purpose if I were you, and then build a strop out of a worn out leather belt and some white rouge.

Thanks Chang,

I have DMT's folding version in coarse/fine and it works great, just takes a while. I have a 5 inch soft, and a 5 inch hard Arkansas stone which I use to sharpen in addition to the duofold. I usually strop on a piece of cardboard to get that hair popping edge. I was wanting something of greater size for those extended honing sessions on larger (6-8") fixed blades. :D

Also, would this be a good choice? http://store.knifecenter.com/pgi-ProductSpec?NOiM2
