Sharpening system suggestions

I know sharpening gets talked about all the time, I'm just looking for some recommendation. I use the sharpmaker to keep most of my knives in good shape. I have an amazon gift card and I want to get a sharpening system that I can work on really abused knives with. The sharpmaker is good for maintenance but it takes forever to reprofile or remove chips, even with the diamond rods. So, I'm looking for something I can get serious about sharpening with and work on my skills. suggestions?
