I have been looking for a good sharpening system lately and i came across the Lansky Deluxe Diamond Sharpening System. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. The Reason I am going with the lansky system is because honestly I cant keep a proper angle. Any way I have a Buck Strider Folder w/ serrations, Buck Rush, CRKT Serengeti Hunter, Buck Strider Fixed Blade w/ Serration, and a Tom Brown Tracker #2. I was just wondering if this would be a good sharpening system for my knives.

If the Lansky system you are looking at has the clamp that attaches to the spine of the blade as a guide, I would suggest the Sharpmaker. Using the clamp on guide changes the angle as you get closer to or farther away from the clamp. I scrapped my Lansky years ago for that reason. The Spyderco 204 Sharpmaker works much better. Just be sure to watch the included video/DVD a few times before you start.

I did the same thing as well. I had the regular delux system and it is a decent system, but I had much better reults from the sharpmaker. Also, the sharpmaker wont run the risk of maring your blade unlike the lansky system.

I own both. If you get the Lansky, take great care to get the blade clamped just right and as close to the middle (between tip and end of blade near handle), because, as someone said, the angle will change on you.

I recommend the Sharpmaker too. I do wish it came with coarse stones, though.

I'm not a fan of Lansky or similar sharpeners. Makes for an unpleasent sharpening experience with poor results.

So that would be true for the edgepro system? I don't own one but I got the sharpmaker with the diamond rod.

I had the Lansky system for a couple of years. Did ok but felt it was over tedious to get it set up. I bought the Sharpmaker earlier this year and after sharpening my knives, I threw the Lanksy in the trash and never looked back.
