I'm trying to find the best sharpening system to use for any blade. I looked into the Wicked Edge system and was impressed, but not sure if it's the best out there. Any other recommendations?

I've used a similar system and always found it difficult to control the blade on the wheel because of the circular shape and the rate at which it is spinning. Also being able to put a precise angle on it seemed quite difficult.

if you still have the system, i would be glad to give you a call and help you learn how to use them.

If "best" means most versatile to you, that's probably going to be free hand sharpening with stones, strops, and a couple of round rods for serrated blades. You won't have to worry about whether you're correctly matching the bevel angle to your guided system. It'll be the quickest and easiest to use, the most portable, and probably the least expensive kit. It'll also have one of the steepest learning curves and it'll take longer to sharpen than Richard Js wheels, a good bit longer.

I am a big advocate in the Wicked Edge, I have tried free handing, Edge Pro, Sharpmaker and all sorts of other sharpeners but to get perfect consistency you can't go wrong with the Wicked Edge. One thing I really like is repeat ability. If you need to touch up or resharpen an edge you can set it up exactly the same way every time. Check out some of my videos to see what a Wicked Edge can do

How durable is the edge on the knife in the video? 30 degrees seems like it would hold the edge longer, but with it being that sharp I would think it would roll over or chip pretty easily.

I've been using the Edge Pro system for years now. It's easy to set up and use and it gets my knife sharp to my satisfaction. I went with the Pro kit but there is the Apex kit which doesn't have the scissors sharpening option.

To get a fast and simple sharpening job done, I use the Sharpmaker.
