Is sharpening Talonite or 420V any more difficult than any other premium steels. I know custom makes go through many more abrasive belts in the manufacture of 420V and 440V blades. So it would follow that once an edge became dull, it would be harder to re-sharpen.
Are ceramics appropriate for this job? Or do you have to use diamond stones/hones? Does talonite also fall into this category?
I am getting ready to buy some different customs with these steels/alloys and just wanted a brief overview of the ease of maintanence of these steels.
Thanks!

i have customs in both blade materials...talonite sharpens very easy compared to the 420v...as far as maintanence goes,i think you wont find anything more maintanence free than talonite imho...they are both great materials and i like them both... but when i reach for a skinning knife its always the Talonite

Edge maintanence is easy with both. Now regrinding an edge bevel is another story. Both are a real bear if you have to reshape the edge, however a touch up resharpening takes only a few strokes and bam the edge is sharp.
