Sharpening Tanto's secondary edge

It seems it should be easy, but on the one tanto-bladed knife I have had to sharpen yet, a medium CS tanto Voyager, I actually made the secondary edge more dull. Perhaps it also has to do with the convex thickness of the blade near the point, or just my lack of experience sharpening that type blade. The primary edge was easily resharpened.

Since neo-tantos are very common and popular blade shapes, does anyone find sharpening the secondary edges easy, and how?

P.S.:
I don't foresee much trouble resharpening my BM Stryker's secondary edge, as its angle is less severe than the Voyager's, though the steel is harder.

James Y,

I think that the best way to sharpen a Cold Steel Tanto blade is to treat "both" edges as separate.

First, sharpen the long (main) edge, then without overlapping, sharpen the short edge of the point.

That is how I sharpen mine (using the Lansky "system"), and it gets them VERY sharp!.

I also treat both edges as seperate, and also use the Lansky system, and have had great results.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies!

I guess I should use a Lansky (or maybe an EZ-lap?) sharpening system for that coarser secondary edge. I did separate the sharpening between the primary and secondary edges, but it seems my Spydie Sharpmaker is very slow to resharpen the coarse secondary edge on that particular tanto. Guess I need something more abrasive.
