I don't have a search function so I'm very sorry, I presume this is asked all the time. Can we get a sticky with a compilation of sharpening materials & techniques? I'd like some advice on proper sharpening motions and such, and whether or not a knife's material & intended use (kitchen vs. camping) will change the technique.

Make some popcorn, grab a cold one and go to youtube and do a search for "sharpening with a spyderco sharpmaker"....that should keep you busy for a while.
