Sharpening the combo edge mini ka-bar

hi, my ka-bar has about an inch and ahalf of serrations at the back (closest to handle, not spine) of the blade. The strange thing is though, that the serrations are not chisel ground. One side of the blade has a bevel sharpened and the other has the serrations filed in (as in the back of the blade was sharpened as if it were normal, and then the front has serrations. How should i deal with this, should i ignore that edge or sharpen it (if i sharpen it, i will have to spend lots of work on the serrations, if i ignore it, it will come out of alignment with the rest of the edge (usually not a problem...most serrations are chisel) but i am unsure of what to do in this case.
