Hi there!
I've got a set of 12" pro flights. I like the overall feel and quality of the product, and they throw well (as well as I can!).
Being an outdoorsman, I'm tempted to grind and sharpen one of the throwers into a kind of a smatchet-looking camp tool (that I can still throw!), thereby eliminating the need of a small camp axe. The throwers are now cord wrapped with bright colour but I'm also thinking of setting a rubber handle. One simply has to experiment, right?
My question is, of course: have you tried this, and does the carbon v hold edge? I'm a fan of carbon steel puukko-knives and I think I know how to take care of the blade once it's done. I quite prefer carbon steel to any space-age super-hard alloys.
I also think I can accomodate my throwing to the somewhat changed balance. Maybe I'll just grind some off the tang as well?
