What's the trick to these? They have a weird convex edge to them by the looks of it.

Can I just stick them on the wicked edge and sharpen them?

Any help would be awesome

I re-profiled my Woodlander on the Sharpmaker. Just used the old sharpie trick and diamond stones, went slow with low pressure and a lot of patience, it took me a few hours to get a uniform angle on the entire edge . Mine did have a convex edge but I've found a V bevel has worked fine for wood processing.

They were flat ground with thick convex edges from the factory. Both of yours have thinner convex edges (still pretty robust) that cut better. Ideally you should maintain the convex and even better grind it even higher. If you don't have a belt grinder sand paper and time will work..

I'm not super versed in sharpening. No experience at all with convex edges.
I need to get a.belt grinder. Lol

Both the ones you have should have sub 40 degree included edges and edge upkeep with a Sharpmaker/edge pro should be fine. Unless you plan a full regrind.. a 1X30" belt grinder is good, 2X72" is a lot better.

30 included on the Domino please ;) and no need to wait for a Techno to arrive (that trade fell through)

Most of the Spyderco folders I've in countered and sharpened have had a 20 degree edge angle on them.

Sorry about the trade fall thru.
No worries. I can still make your scale for the techno :) I have one.

I have awhile before I plan on sharpening the Dayhiker.
