Can anyone help me? Please:confused: . I remember seeing ads for a dog bone ceramic sharpener that was designed specifically for Spydercp serrated edges. They had another for cold steel and another generic. Does anyone know who makes these sharpeners? Thanks

I've seen those all over the place. Your best bet is to either buy a 204 and get all 4 stones and a base, or just buy a stone of each grit from a dealer or SFO(replacement stones).

SFO lists them at $12 a stone, Linda has them for $8 each... then buy a ceramic cutting saw blade(bit pricy though), and chop them in 1/2 if you want the smaller size.

Vampyre

I have a set of stones and sharpen freehand but my understanding is that these ceramic sharpeners had the spydedge pattern cut in the stone. That way I can sharpen without having to dull the points or cut the teeth one by one. Thanks

The ones such as the 'dogbone' stones or gatco tri-sharps, are simply 3" sections of triangle stone. They usually sell for about $10 each up here.

The B&M knife shop up here buys extra whites and cuts them using a ceramic cutting blade(about $25-30), and chops off 3" sections and then sells for $4(vs 10, save $6).

Thats why I said to buy a "replacment stone" for the 204, and chop it. I bought one of the small chunks from the store, and then bought the 303MF for PE, and finally bought a 204MF. I'm on my 2nd 303MF(lost the first one when I was walking to the PO in Aug) and still carry a small chunk of spyderco white triangle in my car.

Thank you Vampyre I have never seen a sharpmaker kit and didn't know that they had a stone specifically for sharpening their serrated edge. Great idea!:D Thanks one day I will learn to proof read and stop having to edit my postings::grumpy:

You might be refering to a Gatco piece... my memory is vague but I've seen them at local knife stores (full retail though)
Still, best best is using the 204 (white stone only!), or if you want, send it back to Spyderco with a $5 MO for sharpening.
